Hello, I’m Nailea Sarait.
I want to bring you an illustration with a touch of the past so you can travel back in time and have a piece of history in your present.
MY STORY
I’m a botanical artist living in Nova Scotia, Canada since 2022.
I was born in a small town in Venezuela, where I lived until I graduated from university. After that, I moved to Bogotá, Colombia, and worked as an architect in a busy office surrounded by the chaos of the city. But over time, I began to long for a slower, more intentional life—one closer to nature. That longing led me to watercolors, which became both a quiet refuge and a powerful way to reconnect with the natural world. Eventually, my husband and I left the city behind and moved to the South Shore of Nova Scotia, where we bought a cabin nestled in the forest. I now spend my days painting the plants that surround me, learning from past centuries’ naturalist expeditions, and finding peace in the rhythm of the woods.
I believe that the more time you spend with plants or in their habitat, the more you learn about them and also learn about yourself.
My more intimate self…
-
I love period movies and anything to do with the Victorian era. If I could have been born in any other time, that would be it.
-
My birthday is March 20, the day when spring begins. That's why I think it's no coincidence that I love flowers and plants so much.
-
I am very introverted, I have very few friends, socializing makes me anxious. But I am very loyal as a friend. I value true friendship very much.
-
I have an architecture university degree and and I have a postgraduate degree in Visual Arts focused on Painting.
Things I really value
-
Handmade
Making things with our own hands gives an additional value and a unique meaning to each illustration or painting.
-
Inspiration everywhere
The pleasure of contemplating and attentively observing nature and capturing it on paper.
-
Nostalgic
To be able to travel back in time and live that era we always loved with a small piece of paper in our current life.
I want to bring a piece of the past into your daily life.
through an illustration and telling its whole story.
